South Africa's youth in development for employability
Thank you for your interest in Columba Leadership,
an effective (and cost-effective) proven youth
employment movement based in South Africa.
We are currently working with Yellowwood and
Firstview on our new look and feel, launching soon!
Who are we
Columba Leadership is a values-based youth leadership organisation that works closely with the Department of Education and runs programmes in partnership with schools located in economically disadvantaged areas around the country in six provinces.
Our vision is to instil a sense of grit, purpose, determination and 21st century skills into large numbers of young people, with the goal of making them work-ready and highly employable. Our mission is to activate a national movement of engaged young leaders for youth enterprise and employment.
Over the past six years, we have proven ourselves to be one of the most effective (and cost-effective) programmes in South Africa aimed at addressing the challenges of youth unemployment.
Run on sound business lines, our unique peer-on peer leadership model has achieved a ripple effect of positive impact at individual, school and community level that costs between 50 and 80% less than similar programmes, and has been proven to provide R4 worth of value for every R1 invested.
Life-changing competencies are developed and acquired through contextual, practical projects which provide the foundation that assists learners in succeeding in the next stage of their lives; be it further education, starting their own enterprise or in the work place.
Columba Leadership’s unique, proven, values-based model has started a movement that can be measured by its results, created environments more conducive to teaching and learning, produced a groundswell of young people willing, ready and able to take their place in this country’s workforce and, most importantly of all, fostered hope for a better future for every single South African.
From inception in 2009 to February 2016, we have developed over 3500 future leaders (20% of whom
are educators) who have impacted an estimated network of 70 000 learners by reaching out and
involving them in their schools through impact projects. We are aiming to produce 1570 future leaders in
South Africa this year.
Our graduates confirm sustained behaviour change; 95% of them are more future oriented, inspired for education, self-confident and committed to social contribution. 81% of our graduates are studying, working or volunteering after leaving school, delivering social return on investment of R4 for every R1 spent.

One of our graduates, Rosey Seima, was invited to share the story of MIC-Making Incredible Change, in this TedEx Talk. She believes that the youth have the power to not only make a difference in their own lives, but in the lives of their fellow citizens.
Columba Leadership offers shared value opportunities with all our stakeholders. This video provides insight into the intersection between corporates, learners and schools which is offered by Columba Leadership.
